Account

Kharga is an integration platform between EV owners (car users) and providers of EV charging infrastructure. At-a-glance, the platform has the following features:

For EV owners:

  • Self-registration in the platform. You can create your own account (to have access at the platform) , define your car (to personalize and tune up the charging process) and register your charger if you want to shared it with others.
  • Schedule and reserve charging time slots on selected charging locations, based on your proximity, preferences and policies
  • You can share your own charger with other users to gain points that can be used to charge your own cars at a different location, for example, or just to reduce your costs.
  • Plenty of reports that allow you to see where and how you spent your points and who and for how long used for shared charger.
  • Manage your spending via known trusted external payment platform.

For  EV charging Infrastructure (charging suppliers):

  • Self-registration in the platform as Charging Infrastructure Supplier
  • Self-define your location: position on the map, number and type of chargers, who can use it.
  • Define how charging power is available at your location: less during the day, more during the night, priority users etc
  • Time when your location is available for others: maybe you want the weekend for your self
  • Set the charging price based on your criteria, like: how much you location is used or how much energy delivers or maybe you want a late-departure fee to apply.
  • Usage reports

In a nutshell Kharga brings two worlds together: Ev owner (consumer) and charging supplier (supplier).

 Kharga provides two main views via a single portal: one for charging infrastructure supplier and one for EV owner. You just need and account either you want to charge your car or want other to use your charger or location.

Of course, besides a web portal there is a mobile app, too.

Kharga is a software platform that can work with chargers that support OCPP protocol version 1.6 minimum.

As long as the charger is compatible with the car then it can use Kharga Platform.

Using the map view you can look for charging location near to you. The map view gives you more info about a location: how to get there, what chargers are available and how many, and when you can schedule a charging session.

For Europe most chargers are using Type2 connector (Mennekes) or CCS2 (Combined Charging System 2) so any new car, even Tesla,  uses in Europe Type 2 connector. For older cars there is CHAdeMO connector for fast charging.

Kharga Platform integrates with all chargers that supports standard OCPP v1.6 regardless of their connector to the car (Type 2, CCS2 or CHAdeMO).

Functionalities

You can make reservation via my schedules section of the portal. Chose a location using the map view, select time and duration of the charging session. Make sure you are there on time.

Some location provide a special charging slot, called OverNight slot, where you can drop you car in the evening, get it back in the morning, fully charged.

You start a charging session using the app (mobile or web) or using RFID cars. Also you can start the session immediately or schedule to start later on.

A plan (charging plan) describes how and when a charger works based on time and power it can deliver to the car. Charging a car may use a significant power which may not be available all the time. For example during the day when other appliances are using the energy you may want to reduce or to even stop charging a car but to resume it during the night. Also on weekends when there is less demand you may want to charge any time and at full power.

An example of a plan:

  • Monday-Friday between 00:00- 08:00 -> full power
  • Monday-Friday between 08:00-12:00 -> half power
  • Monday-Friday between 12:00-21:00 -> charger not available
  • Monday-Friday between 21:00- 00:00 -> half power
  • Weekends -> full power

Yes, you can change or cancel the scheduled session. However, the location supplier can set specific fees based the minimum cancelation time, no cancel policy etc

Charging history, reports and statistics can be views in the Billing&Report section of the portal.

You can register an account using the Kharga Platform at https://….

Billing

The location supplier defines its own price policy, based on the following criteria:

  • Park slot occupancy: it may have a starting price
  • Energy usage: price per unit of energy delivered
  • Late departure fee: if you keep the slot occupied after you charged your car

Example A: The price is based on time. The longer you stay the price increases

Example B: The price is based on energy delivered per unit of energy

Example C: The price is on the sum of:

  • Starting price. You use the park facility you may pay a fixed price regardless of time spent or energy used.
  • Energy delivered. You pay more as you charge more
  • Late departure fee. If you don’t move your car in 15 min after the charge is completed or the reserved slot is finished then there is a price for every 15 min

Kharga Platform uses units of credits as equivalency of services provided. The credits can be purchased via bank payments in your account

The Kharga unit can be used both ways: to purchase services or to provide services. For example you can share your charger and gains credits which later on can be used to pay services in other location.

Invoices can be downloaded in PDF format in Billing&Report section of the portal.
